BELGIAN MALINOIS

The Belgian Shepherd dog originates from various regions in Belgium where it was initially used as a herding dog for sheep. Over time, as the number of sheep decreased, the dog's role diversified to include guarding, defending, tracking, and more, becoming a versatile working dog adaptable to various tasks. Originally, there were significant differences among the dogs, but nowadays we recognize four varieties: the Groenendael, the Laekenois, the Malinois, and the Tervuren. These varieties differ in color and coat type.

The Malinois appears powerful, muscular, and athletic. It has a short coat and comes exclusively in a fawn color, ranging from light brown to reddish or gray, with characteristic black "charbonné" markings (black tips on the hairs) and a distinct black mask on the face and black ears.

A small amount of white on the chest and toes is permissible in the breed standard. The dense coat, along with the plush undercoat, provides excellent protection against changing weather conditions.

The eyes are dark and almond-shaped. Males typically stand between 60 to 66 centimeters at the withers, while females range from 56 to 62 centimeters in height.
